Conociendo al Dr.=The Dr.Says "Don't Blink"

Hola Amigos! Do you have any hobbies you pursue on the weekends? I tend to do a little bit of crafting since the hubs is home and he can keep the other members of the family busy doing "manly stuff"! Usually I get 2 "me" hours before someone comes through the door asking for a band aid or an ice pack...oh yeah...I said..manly stuff right? lol! This little "me" time sometimes has it's should I say head scratching moments usually brought up by the hubs...for example: What is that supposed to be? Are you going to use the main table all day? or my favorite...Yes Hun it looks nice (not taking his eyes for an instant away from the tv and The Walking Dead or  Dr.Who)!!!!

Which brings me to the title of my post and the new spin my sweet project took. So fast I'm still dizzy!
I was so proud of the hard work I'd put on my 3 little angels and jars from the Dollar Tree. I don't have much   Valentine's decor and will not go out, buy stuff and then only use it once, So I decided to make something I could keep all year round in any room.

As you could see they were initially white with very little character, so I decided to make them more interesting by giving them an antique look using Americana Raw Umber (.59 sale at Michael's) and Martha Stewart's Antiquing (using 40% coupon also at Michael's) So far so good!..less than 7 dollars spent on my project!

The antiquing came out to my satisfaction, perhaps other future projects will turn out better once I practice the technique some more.

To the lids I gave a coat of Hammered finish spray paint...not sure if this is a no-no but I liked how they looked.

Finally attached the little angels to the lids, filled them out with candy and labeled each jar by hand to give it a personal touch with funny names (remember, we don't take Valentine's too serious at this blog), Where do broken hearts go? Conversation Hearts, Foolish Heart Marshmallows and Heart of Stone Crunchy Chocolate Hearts! Perfect...I loved them all....get it, "loved them" ., lol

All was perfect until my hubs said happily "Hey Dear! Are those your Dr. Who Angels? I didn't  know you finally started watching the old DVDs? What season are you on now?" He was so excited...and I was like HUH?...

I explained to him what I thought I was doing...and he said, a little disappointed, Oh (silence)...BUT, if you watch the episode you'll see that yours look just like the ones on Dr.Who!!! Needless to say...I did not BLINK and watch the whole episode and got a lecture on Dr, Who for Beginners...

Needless to say, my little guys have personality alright...Not quite sure if they are the sweet good guys they started at or now....the Sci-Fi spooky winged creatures who play tricks on you if you dare to blink!
At the end I said to myself...well I'll be....leave it to the hubs to make a joke out of my almost, almost first true serious approach to Valentine's and Valentine's Crafts!

Besitos,
Lizy
